An early diagnosis and treatment is favorable in most cases to guide the erupting teeth into a better position and to preserve space for permanent teeth. Early treatment also provides a chance to lower the risk of trauma for the protruded teeth and improves overall appearance and self-esteem.

An early treatment may involve the use of orthodontic appliances to guide the growth of the developing teeth and jaw bones. This will create a better environment for the adult teeth to emerge. Early treatment phase may be followed by full braces at a later age and the period is usually short and effective due to the implementation of an early treatment program.

Early treatment is required to regulate the width of the lower and upper dental arches, to correct thumb sucking , to eliminate speech problems and to avoid the need of having  permanent tooth extractions in future .We, at Ocean Beach recommend  early treatment to simplify later treatment required after all the permanent teeth erupt.
